'Waterfall ' oak bookcase

Making the most of a particularly clean batch of timber we have been able to match all the timber colour and grain beautifully to create a very attractive and practical item of storage furniture. With fixed shelves and spaces of 15”, 13”, 11” and a 7” side above the top shelf, it offers useful space for larger books or a combination of book and display space.

The outside dimensions are 32” x 54” x 15” and the back is fitted with random width t & g boards, which are used to get the best out of the available timber but also help to give the piece a hand made identity. It’s almost a pity someone will probably buy it and fill it with books straight away!

This set has 3 8” x 2” drawers and is priced at £140. The other sets currently available have either 3 or 4 drawers up to 12” wide.

The teddies are made by Chris Bears and are among a charming group of resident bears at the showroom, Longnor Craft Centre.

Just out of the workshop, the handles haven’t yet been fitted prior to it being stained and varnished.

This very compact unit, measuring just 34” x 23” x 13” will hold a staggering 480 CD’s in standard plastic cases. The door compartments are hinged on 3 solid drawn brass  hinges, giving a silky smooth action with a solid feel.

When folded back through 180 degrees  the shelves follow through neatly. This format also offers slightly deeper spaces to accommodate boxed sets of CD’s at the top and bottom of the main unit. In order to avoid a bulky appearance the top may appear rather unsupported without a rail round underneath. It actually has two bracing rails set into its own thickness which give it stregth and counter warping.

Unfortunately this sturdy and compact unit soaks up man-hours in production so has to be priced accordingly at £675, still a fraction of the value of its regular contents! Watch out for pictures of the finished item and news of whether we manage to get one into the showroom.

Most of our media cabinets are made from customer’s sketches to suit individual requirements. This one has two drawers for storage and a cupboard with one shelf and cost around £875. It has now settled into its new home in Cornwall.

Pippy oak coffee table 48” x 21” x 18”     £475

Measuring approximately 48” x 21” x 18” and made entirely from pippy English oak with a finely sanded finish sealed with Danish oil this coffee table offers a unique combination of modern lines and rustic charm without masking the natural beauty and feel of this most attractive timber. The pedestals are a robust 4¾” square and the whole table has a reassuringly solid feel.

This table is awaiting its last coat of oil and will be in our showroom by 27th Feb. I don’t imagine it will be there very long, but we should be able to repeat the design easily.

We probably wouldn’t need much persuading to make a dining table of similar design. Watch this space!
