As a bespoke furniture maker we can offer the kind of service that no larger supplier can get close to. We were recently approached by a customer who wanted a table to match some chairs they already owned.

Our brief was to make it a bit simpler but keep it looking like a part of the set. We came up with this design and the result was one very satisfied customer. This job was relatively simple but we have worked on far more challenging projects in the past.

Copying a carver chair for a local customer turned into more of a challenge than expected. I had to make the chair in the same way the original had been made so it would look part of the set

 

A special cutter had to be ground for an exact match of the edge moulding on the H frame.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The front legs had to be turned and then carved to match. The top section is less detailed as was the tradition with ‘Gentlemen’s’ and ‘Ladies’ carver chairs.

 

The finishing process was very complicated and began with staining the chair orange to give the right ‘undertone’ once it had been darkened and rubbed back to appear worn.

We were very pleased with the end result, as was the customer.

Last year I was asked to make a new dashboard for a Morgan Plus 4 which is being restored by a local gentleman. Keen for a challenge, I accepted the job and completed it as requested.

Today I was delighted as the owner got back in touch needing another part and brought a picture of the progress so far with him.

It has been resprayed and is about to go for a complete re-upholster with a Morgan specialist in Bedford.

With a promise of a guest appearance when fully finished and back on the road, sometime in late summer, I will add some more pictures at that point.

 

We were proud to be asked to make this display case to go into St Giles Church, Hartington. It was commissioned to hold a WW2 uniform belonging to Hartington former Royal Marine Ron Riley and is now on display in the church

Made in oak with a dark stain, it has laminated safety glass and a lock.

Although not specifacally a ‘church’ item it is among many items, large and small, that we have made for churches over the years, and, as with all our work, we are very happy to discuss commissions.

 

Sadly, Ron passed away just before we completed this project but knew it was happening and was very much in approval

Our latest commission is this slim oak coffee table with a magazine rack below and a drawer in the end for all the items you don’t want to have in the way on top of the table.

Similar to our previous design but with the added drawer it makes even better use of the space.

We have made two for our customer and liked the design enough to make this one for our showroom. Available now at £399
